2017-11-13: Mae Sariang to Mae Hon Soon. Stopping over at Thung Bua Tong fields (wild sunflower fields which only blooms for 2 weeks in a year)
This is also one of the toughest rides as we almost got lost.
woke up early for free breakfast (which consist of bread and toast on the table outside, just take yourself)Bike is still here.. First stopSuppose to be some coffee place with a viewpointActually view is not badThe cleanliness of the bike from riding in rain on the previous daySome selfies before moving onAs we approach a small town, we found a eatery by the side of the road and decided to stop here for lunchhad simple but fantastic meal (the kailan was heavenly!)After lunch we moved on, towards the sunflower fields!According to Chris these fields only bloomed for 2 weeks in a year!sunflowers! (i think)There’s a viewpoint. Also i later found out that a singaporean biker came here and pitched tent at the pavillion for the night on the top left( might be too small to see)endless Took a ton of pictures before we left, the viewpoint reminds me of a helipad lolOK things started not to go so well from here. instead of backtracking the route we came from, i insisted to go ahead as “surely there is a way forward” without backtracking. Further up the route we found a waterfall / park and went for some trekkingso no problem, we are still freshThe roads started to get narrower as we moved on, civilisation seems to have faded away… Reach a lake in the mist of mountainsWe got lost in the mountain roads for a few hours. (the roads are not on googlemap). So the rule is to move in the general directionit started raining and we rode through the endless twisties, ascends and descends. Till we got fed of the snake sign lolThe roads were above the mountains and total DESERTED! bo lang one.. so Chris got abit worriedat some point the road was not paved, Chris has to get off while i off-roaded the scooter through mud. the ascend and descends was VERY steep! and some erosion happened due to wet weatherThis is freaking STEEP! i pray the scooter’s brakes are holding as there’s no engine brakeAnother oneOK.. got TL liao, stopped for smoke and fool round abit (look at the steep descend)Giving up look As we descended further we saw signs of civilisation, a car! After riding through the mountains for 3 hours we finally reached the main road. Theres a rainbow (雨过天晴)Reached a viewpoint, took a selfie with the mountains hahaSaw the group of bikers that passed us earlierReached MHS! checked into this eco resortWhere they have their own rice paddy fields!hi riceIn depth analysisthey have a stream running through the resort grounds from the mountains (ok lah they are long kangs)Went to MHS town for dinner and the walking street! Its next to a templeFound a small restaurant by the walking street and had our simple dinner (fried pork is super!)had some local pork sticks, yummy! After dinner + walk, we went back for the day
