8D7N Yunnan: Kunming, Dali, Lijiang & Shangri-La

I’ve always dreamed of travelling to Yunnan, China, especially Shangri‑La. A few years ago I had flights and accommodation booked for Kunming/Shangri‑La, but then COVID hit and the trip was cancelled. This year I really wanted to go on a long trip to China – so Yunnan it is.

That being said, I am too busy and too lazy to plan out a free and easy itinerary and do comparisons between agencies and check out reviews etc, I decided to book a package tour that would cover all the places I wanted to see without the stress.

This will be the main post explaining the trip’s details.

Day 5 : Balagezong Scenic Area, Shangri-La

Today took us deep into the mountains surrounding Shangri-La, to one of the region’s most spectacular and lesser-known destinations – Balagezong Scenic Area. If you’re planning a visit to Shangri-La and love nature as much as I do, this is a place you really shouldn’t miss.

From the moment we arrived, the views were so breathtaking that they left both my husband and me completely in awe.

Day 3 : Lijiang

Today is another early early start. Today’s destination was Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, and we needed to reach the base by 8 am sharp. That meant morning call at 6am, breakfast at 6.15 am and leaving the hotel by 7 am. Excited for the day ahead, especially excited to finally see snow (or so we thought).

Day 2 : Kunming – Dali – Lijiang

This morning, we officially set off for Lijiang, with a stopover in Dali along the way.

In my previous post, I shared the pros of booking a tour package. Now, let’s talk about one of the cons as quoted by my hubby being “herded around like cows/sheep.”

Wake up call is set at a specific time, you have to be down for breakfast by a set time, and be ready to leave the hotel for the next destination by a set time. It’s like clockwork… Move, move, move. Go, go, go.

YH’s TIBUT – Pt 6 – All of the New, Less of the Old

Singapore is a constantly changing country with housing, industrial and recreational projects left and right (although mostly just BTO). In the recreational sector, this includes the, as of this post, freshly revamped Jurong Lake Gardens and freshly introduced Bidadari Park. Most Singaporeans know of Jurong Lake Gardens, in fact, many have likely bemoaned its long… long renovation process. Bidadari is a new residential area which is slowly building itself up to house Singapore’s ever-growing population. This and more in the following blog post!

Singapore to Betong Thailand – Solo Motorcycle Trip 2024

!

To continue on the tradition of well documented solo motorcycle road trips, I decided to embark on another endeavor in the spirit of motorcycling. I got a Honda Forza 350 🛵 in SG this time (after riding it in the northern Thailand trip two years back), found I like it a lot. So, since it’s the National day long weekend, so what else I can do to celebrate the birthday of my beloved nation of Singapore then to ride to Betong Thailand through a different border? 🫨🫨
