Day 5: Hanoi Last Day, Best Massage & Departure

This is Day 5 of of our 5D4N Hanoi itinerary, ending Hanoi on a high with a best massage of the trip, street snacks and a slow final day before heading home.

Breakfast at MK Rooftop

We missed breakfast yesterday, so today we decided to wake up for it.

Breakfast is at the rooftop of MK Premier Boutique Hotel, which has a pretty good view of the surroundings.

As our flight back to Singapore is at 18:30, we only needed to depart for the airport around 3pm. So we checked out of the hotel, left our luggage at the concierge, and headed out. I decided to go for one final massage before heading back. Rick chose not to join me this time, so it was just me.

I found Ha Noi Classic Spa & Delivery Massage Service on Google Maps with a shocking 5.0-star rating from over 2,000 reviews, so I knew I had to give it a try. I walked in at 12 noon during lunchtime, and once again, there were no other customers except me!

Hot Stone Massage

This time, I decided to try a 1-hour hot stone massage (690k VND). It was my first time trying a hot stone massage, and I am pretty sure it won’t be my last. It is the BEST massage I have ever had. The massage hit all the right spots, and the hot stones helped release all the tension towards the end. So relaxing. No wonder they are so highly rated on Google.

They served me hot tea after the massage, and I had a chat with the owner, who explained the benefits of hot stone massage. She also mentioned that next time I should try the 90-minute session, as 60 minutes is too short.

Absolutely.

My massage ended up costing me 700k VND (690k VND + 100k VND tip). I gave a 100k VND tip this time because I feel that hot stone massage requires more effort. The masseuse has to heat the stones to the right temperature, then cool them slightly by shuffling them between both hands before applying them to massage the body, and leaving them on certain areas such as the spine and shoulders.

Streets of Hanoi Old Quarters

While I was having my relaxing hot stone massage, Rick was walking around the streets of Hanoi while waiting for me.

We were still full from breakfast and didn’t have the appetite for a full lunch, so I decided to satisfy my cravings instead.

When we were staying at Hanoi Fiesta Grand, I saw a pushcart selling fried bananas, so I dragged Rick along to go back and look for it.

And we found it!

The owner was very nice and told us to wait for a fresh batch.

Departure Logistics: Getting to Noi Bai Airport

Then it was back to the hotel, where we retrieved our luggage and made our way to the airport.

  • Timing: For an 18:30 (6:30 PM) flight, we aimed to leave the Old Quarter by 3:00 PM. This accounted for potential Hanoi traffic and the 45-minute drive to the airport.
  • Transport: We used the Grab app again for a seamless, fixed-price ride.

Bye Hanoi. You have been great.

Till the next time.
