Introduction
Welcome to KohAdventures, a family blog that captures our most memorable moments through photography and storytelling. What began as a personal space to document experiences has grown into a diverse travel diary, featuring international journeys, local explorations, and reflections from different stages of our lives.
KohAdventures was started during the emergence of COVID19 in 2020, when most of us were in various states of lockdown (depending on where you are located in the world) and when travel came to a standstill. As someone interested in tech and motorcycle touring, Rick had the idea of setting up a blog using our own network-attached server (NAS) and writing about the multiple motorcycle trips he took over the years for remembrance. It was a fulfilling journey setting up the blog from scratch without ChatGPT in those days.
He then passed the baton to Gerald, or Yong Hong (take your pick), who took over the day-to-day running of the blog, showcasing his love for photography, visual storytelling, and personal writing (and also because of how good he is with English – AL1 in English in PSLE & A1 in 2025’s O’Level). Originally, he posted pictures of any walks we went on in Singapore, frankly chaotic entries which illustrate his early days in photography and writing. Nowadays, with the blog being far more professional and with an increase in readership, it has become something he takes pride in, his best attempt at travel blogging and captivating the people on the internet with his writing and photography.
Today, Koh Adventures continues to be run by our family, a shared space where we continue to document our journeys, travels, and the memorable moments through our lives.
Blog Contributors
Yong Hong / Gerald – Primary Contributor . Hobbyist Photographer
I’ve been a hobbyist photographer since young, starting at around 7 to 8 years old. At 13, when I joined my Secondary School’s Media Club, I began to use a DSLR, specifically a Canon EOS250D which I still use to this day. I’ve always had a strong suit for Language Arts with my aforementioned skill in the English language, but I’m also versed in Chinese (B3 in O’Level) and Teochew.
Rick – Founder . Motorcycle Adventurer . Road Trip Writer
I’m a motorcycle enthusiast and experienced rider who loves long-distance touring. I documents motorcycle road trips, scenic routes, border crossings, and the realities of life on the road.
Christina – Travel Lover
I love to travel but hate to plan especially long trips. Most of my posts are about the couple trips that we have taken across Asia, sharing with readers our experiences with scenic destinations, cultural experiences, and practical travel insights gathered along the way.
Mandy – Sacabambaspis
I love fish.
