Touching down in Hanoi from Singapore, we kicked off our 5D4N itinerary by diving straight into the energy of the Old Quarter. From navigating airport transfers to settling into our hotel, the day unfolded with our first taste of authentic Vietnamese food starting with a satisfying bowl of bún chả and ending with a comforting bowl of pho at Pho 10 Ly Quoc Su. We took a slow stroll around Hoan Kiem Lake, soaked in the atmosphere, and stopped by The Note Coffee to try Hanoi’s famous egg coffee. The night wrapped up at the bustling Hanoi Weekend Night Market. A must if your itinerary overlaps with Friday to Sunday.

This was the highlight of our Hanoi anniversary trip - a 2D1N Halong Bay cruise experience exploring the quieter side of Lan Ha Bay. After a smooth transfer from Hanoi Old Quarter, we boarded our cruise and were immediately greeted by stunning limestone karsts and calm emerald waters. The itinerary was packed but never rushed — kayaking through the Light & Dark Cave, enjoying sunset views on the sundeck, and ending the night with a peaceful candlelight dinner onboard. Waking up to misty bay views from our balcony was easily one of the most memorable moments of the trip. If you’re deciding between Halong Bay or Lan Ha Bay, this experience made it very clear why Lan Ha Bay is worth considering.

Back in Hanoi after the cruise, we slowed things down and focused on what the city does best - food and massages. Staying in the Old Quarter, everything was within walking distance, from a surprisingly good bánh mì spot to a spontaneous jersey shopping detour. We squeezed in a full-body massage at a local spa (cheap and good as expected in Hanoi) before heading out for a simple but incredibly satisfying bowl of local pho. The night ended with craft beer and people-watching, soaking in the rhythm of the streets.

Day 4 was all about exploring Hanoi’s key attractions, starting with the historic Imperial Citadel of Thang Long before making our way through the chaotic but fascinating Dong Xuan Market. The highlight of the day was experiencing Hanoi Train Street. We opted for the quieter southern section, where the train passes just inches from the cafés. The day ended on a high note with a roadside seafood dinner followed by traditional Vietnamese desserts at Little Bowl.

Our final day in Hanoi was intentionally slow and indulgent. With an evening flight back to Singapore, we made the most of our last few hours with one final (and arguably the best) massage at Ha Noi Classic Spa & Delivery Massage Service. A hot stone massage was the perfect way to unwind before heading home. Instead of a full lunch, we kept things light with street snacks including freshly fried banana cake and a final walk around Hoan Kiem Lake. It was a simple, satisfying end to the trip.
