Located off the coast of Southern Thailand, Koh Lipe is an island small enough to be able to walk from end to end easily. Lipe is known for its coral filled, crystal clear waters along with the (not super famous) Koh Lipe Walking Street. Here’s what we did during our 4 days 3 nights stay in Koh Lipe

Day 1, 2 and 3 – Arrival through the crystal clear waters

Stop number 5 of our road trip, officially 10/16 DAYS in our road trip, Koh Lipe! This is our second and last island we will be visiting, along with our last (distinctly new) destination in Thailand before revisiting Hat Yai, after which I need to leave the beloved country for Ipoh and Malacca, both of which were not as enjoyable due to lack of hotel options.
After waking up in Pak Bara, we ate some breakfast nearby and went straight to the pier to wait for the speedboat which only has 2 arrival times, one at 11.30 am and 1.30 pm if I am not wrong. Anyways, we severely undershot the 11.30 am time, reaching at like 10.30 am. After waiting for another hour, we boarded the speedboat which was, surprisingly unsickness ridden.

Koh Lipe is an extremely small island, a walk from one end to another takes a good 20-30 minutes at the very max. We reached shore at a makeshift jetty with some of those floaty barrels things before grabbing a motorcycle taxi to our hotel. Saw some sights along the way, including the Lipe Walking Street we would be visiting later

On to the hotel! Lipe Beach Resort. Frankly, this hotel was not the best, the other rooms might’ve been better, but the one we booked (The family room) was lackluster. No TV, a ton of mosquitoes, the only couch was outside, the bathroom was undesirable, to say the least. If you can’t stand ruggedness, don’t stay here, sorry.
The resort itself is great though, with beach chairs, a great restaurant, dogs you can pet etc. Had some lunch at the hotel restaurant and it was good, fried rice was alright

The thing about Koh Lipe is, similar to the last few days of Koh Samui, the only place we visited is the BEACH. However, instead of having a few days of exploration, there were none. Koh Lipe is such a small island all you’re getting is the beach and the Walking Street. In this case, there’s not much to tell you other than what we ate and the pictures we took
- Along the Walking Street, there are a few places where we ate across the trip
- Madame Yoohoo, who you may have heard of before on the internet
- Thaidurm, which we ate on the last day of the trip and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND
- THIS coffee house, which was alright

Plus some photos we took of the beach. Crystal clear water, long-tail boats, mountain, coral. Its everything you could ever want!

Conclusion – Off to Ipoh and Malacca
In general, if you’re the adventurous type, Koh Lipe is not for you. If you’re the laid back, be on the beach type, Koh Lipe is the only place for you. There’s not much to say about it, if you wanted you could stay at the resort for the entire time you’re at Koh Lipe. Although I do suggest checking out the Walking Street… It’s a laid-back stop for the final new location in Thailand.
