Day 3 – Headed South

Day 3 of our trip to Taiwan consists of only 1 location, that being a visit to Neiwan Old Street. Its an early retirement to our accomodation at Flower Home today due to the need to have a wander around the “resort” itself. We’ll be heading from New Taipei City all the way down South to Miaoli County today. Enjoy!

Destination 1 – Neiwan Old Street

A one and a half hour drive from our previous accomodation at La Cle Hotel, Neiwan Old Street is located in the Hengshan Township of Hsinchu County. This follows our running theme of one 老街 or Old Street in a day. However, the crowd is much milder this time, albeit the geography follows that of Marsiling in that I need to climb up an angle.

I feel as though this is one of the more charming Old Streets we’ve been to. Perhaps it’s because this is the first one we’ve been to in a day but being able to see everyone hard at work is nice. There was also a man killing it on the flute at the end of the road near the train station. All these Old Streets have their history and this one especially. In respect to my non-plagarist nature, here’s an article I find describes it perfectly.

Huh?
Terrifying
KILL IT

Accomodation – Flower Home | 花露農場

I’m as baffled at the name as you are. I suppose it is a floral-centered resort… but thats rather… direct?

Anyways. A 2 hour drive on a bad day (goddamn) from Neiwan Old Street, we reach our accomodation at Flower Home in the Zhuolan Township of Miaoli County. Contrary to the hotels we’ve been living in till now, this one is an actual proper resort. Complete with a rose ice-cream cafe, a perfume shop, restaurant and many small exhibitions with all kinds of flowers and plants, some of which are sold to guests. The early end to the day is partly due to wanting to explore the resort and partly because why not?

Like I said, we’ll be in a family room this time, specifically the Family Balcony Room according to Agoda. In my and my family opinions, this is the best hotel we stayed in. Great views, good food, nice plants and great perfume (at least the ones we bought). The room is massive and the beds are obviously comfortable. Quality stuff

Conclusion – Much Needed R&R

In total contrast to Day 2, Day 3 was probably one of the most relaxed we had in Taiwan. My family wanted to enjoy the resort so we didnt do much bar that for the day. Back in the day, I’d say it were a bit annoying given I didnt really like sitting down and doing nothing. But, as I age, I find sitting still is a god-given luxury. Fun stuff.

You’ll frankly never quite see something like this in Singapore given how small our country is. This is why holidays exist I guess, to enjoy this kind of stuff like this and Lexis Hibiscus or Genting Highlands. Through this self-plug, I realised it’s been awhile since I’ve been to both places… forgive my sub-par journalism in both posts.
