Day at Jurong Bird Park (10/10/2020)

Introduction

So, this is going to probably need some explaining, first of all, why not a nature park. Answer:

Yup, one full paying adult, one FREE admission for kids. This started with my dad sharing this in our family group chat, after a few days, my mother brought it up and we decided to go to TWO trips. Jurong Bird Park and River Safari ( expect that next week ). So, this blog is going to be about the ENTIRE 4-5 HOUR trip, so it will be split into separate parts with each exhibit. Now that should be all…… For now

The start

yum

SO, walk requires energy, energy comes from food, Lunch. Now, i wont spend too long on this but we went to Boon Lay to eat and i would say. It was good, VERY GOOD.

AY

So, after food, we took a short ride in a cab to Jurong Bird Park, exiting the cab, we were greeted with a giant sign confirming, yup, we were here.

Penguin Coast

Penguins, they are birds……………..

After a quick admission, the first exhibit we saw happened to be. Penguins, To be honest, i did not know they were birds, in we go>

big penguin
small penguin, very small

So, walking inside was a dark and well, quiet exhibit, turning around the corner was where the real animals were…..

Pengis

Hmmmmmmmm, this reminds me of a movie, but what…

ITS HAPPY FEET, anyways, wasn’t too much to see so we continued onwards

oh, and this too

Flamingo pool

Flamingos!!!!

Finally something i recognized, WOW, they have a cool exhibit, with the waterfall and everything, the flamingos seemed to not care, just minding their own business. Oh, and own our way to hawk arena, we met a (not so bird) friend

Squirrel

Hawk Arena

So, here is when things got interesting, we saw a few retired show hawks and one caught my eye, not the bird, but the sign.

waitttt

Uhhhhh, 1960s!! That means…. * quick math intensifies * HE’S 60 YEARS OLD, AND HAS DEMENTIA! HOLY….

So, after that shock, we decided to look at the actual birds.

vultures.

More flamingos!

Lesser, what does that mean

hmm, didnt know flamingos could be white, anyways, it seems like we were back in flamingo pool to see some more flamingos, white and lesser this time>>

Nice

So, after some close inspection of the pool, we saw another non-bird visitor here, a lizard!

A big one too

Anyways, sure that the next exhibit cant be more flamingos right??

DOFLAMINGO

Search it up, its a reference to One Piece. So, apparently i was wrong

first pool now lake, wow

So, apparently everything at the start is flamingos, but at least their habitats are cool

Is that a viewing arena!!

So, still flamingos, on to the more “exciting’ part.

bridges
and VERY BIG FISH

PELICAN COVE

So this was interesting

Finally, something new!!! And with big beaks, my favorite personality trait other than sarcasm.

These pelicans are HUGE

Now, my question is…. HOW DO THEY GROW THIS BIG

( lots of) Parrot paradise

So there were ALOT OF PARROTS here and too many photos or things to write about, so i will pick my favourites.

spongebob
Macaws ( which were very talkative )
GREENBEARD ( I suck at naming things )

And last but definitely not least

FATTY

Waterfall aviary

OMG, I am so excited, i remember the last time we went here and it was so cool!!!! Lets……… wait, its CLOSED, NO ONE TOLD ME THIS!!!!!!

Swan Lake

So, after my disappointment was at a peak, i got a ballet reference for an exhibit, great..

Alright, thats pretty cool

Yet again, nothing much to really see soooo.

Break

After walking about one quarter of the park ( i think ) we stopped by a small aquarium and took a rest while admiring them fish.

hmmm, nice fish.

Dinosaur descendants

YES! I LOVE DINOS

NICE PICTURE

So, apparently all these birds were dino descendants so, yup, birds are dinosaurs

Fun Fact: Chickens are T-Rexes, think about that next time you eat KFC. HA, i am so funny.

hm, the elusive cassowary

Well, i guess their size are kind of like dinosaurs….

hmm, this looks like something i know…….. Maybe a funny ostrich
just a cool bird

Some bird discovery centre

Alright, once we walked into this building, it was eerily quiet, and dark too, also greeted by a skeleton of an extinct bird by the name of Elephant Bird ( Great name guys.. )

big
woah, I LOVE SKULLS OF CREEPY ANIMALS

ALRIGHT, time to get out of here before something tries to bite my head off, it was scary in there.

Lory Loft

So, another building it is.

woah

So, it was called “loft” for a reason, waterfalls, big birds small birds, fat birds, all of it was right here

small bird
big fatty boi
SO Many waterfalls, so thirsty

yummy water, anyways, we saw alot of birds, even some up close

alrighty, before one lands on me, i am out!

Birds Of Prey

SO, here is when the birds get large, like 2nd largest eagle LARGE

The camera might make it look small but man was it BIG
now thats an eagle

break 2

so, we were about 3 quarters of the way done, we stopped by a café for some chips and drinks and continued on. But it seemed like the back of the cafe had something to look at.

oh and pangolins
big bird but not yellow
close bird
i hate these bridges
Mandy 2020

African Treetops

So, here we finally had a chance to see the birds in the treetops without having to crane our necks 90 degrees up, YES!

BLUE BIRD
BIG YELLOW BIRD
small yellow bird

Nothing much here either

Hornbills and Toucans

Strap in, this is a long one. Might wanna get some drinks or a sip of water

cool photo filter
peacock
toucan! Used to color these in coloring books
white-haired old bird
mohawk
Hornbill, i think

Royal Ramble

Hey, we have seen this guy before

Yup, but ow we know its name, the Victoria-Crowned Pigeon ( Wait, its a pigeon? )

Properly named as such.

Alright, that is crazy

HAHAHAHAHHAH, ITS A SHORT NECKED PIGEON,

Cool birds
this looks like a turkey…..

Wetlands

I THINK THOSE ARE FLYING FLAMINGOS

So, it looks like this was a little far away, and we walked towards it to find what it was.

hmmm, ducky big bill.
HOLY

So, i was trying to take a photo of the habitats when this guy decided. IMMA FLY!! It was pretty cool though.

boat billed duck

So, apparently after this wetlands journey, there was a small alley with nothing too interesting other than an owl right here

cool

So apparently this was a heliconia walk.

cool

Penguin Coast again

Wait, we are done!!! i am done. So, when we walked in, we missed something. ANOTHER PENGUIN COAST!!!.

COOL
MORE PENGUINS

End

Alright, this was it than , i cant really rate this but yeah. It was great, i guess that’s it then….. Bye????
