What we did over the Labour Day Holidays, PT 1 (Glamping May 1 2022)

It may be a bit overdue, but the time we spent during those few days were just too exciting. Here I will be recapping my families trip to Glamping at East Coast Park. Then a 3 day stay at Lexis Hibiscus, a hotel in Malaysia. I choose to only cover the glamping trip because I have WAY too many good things to say about Lexis. Let us begin.

Glamping!

Covid19 restrictions happened to delay this trip a lot. However, once lifted, we rescheduled it for the final time to the 30th of April, Saturday. This was the start of our long weekend and it was exciting! Everyone was bouncing around the house packing and waiting to take off. Once we were done with packing, we rushed to our car and placed everything inside, then took off!

We decided to make our way to Changi Village to get our lunch first before getting to the campsite. We also decided to buy our snacks and drinks there so that we could enjoy snacking on Lays chips when we were there. Our snacks included chips, marshmallows and pokeys, plus some lychee drink and chrysanthemum tea! After our lunch and quick shopping trip, we drove to the campsite. When we reached, there was a tiny delay, but before long we were putting out our stuff!

The Campsite

wow

That is our tent! The chairs and table outside are ours, we decided to set them out so we could lounge in them whenever. The inside includes 3 mattresses and a table in the middle with plants! There were fans in the corner and fairy lights dotting the sides of the tents. We also have a hammock too, but that hadn’t arrived yet.

The Experience

If you need some family bonding and have some time over the holidays or maybe a long weekend, this is the place to go! We sat in chairs, talked about various different things and even found some seashells by the seashore! Snacks are always a great thing to have whenever you go on a holiday, and we were snacking a lot. It did tend to get boring but we were always chatting and laughing. The view there was great too!

View from our tent out to the ocean

Not all things were sunshine and rainbows however, there was one problem. Because we were at East Coast Park, and restrictions for travel were just lifted, AND IT WAS A LONG WEEKEND, airplanes tended to be a problem. Around evening, airplanes were booming across the sky every few minutes. It wasn’t a problem when we were awake, but when we were asleep, it was hard to even get sleep. Dinner was also a problem, but with a car and a 711 placed somewhere along the East Coast stretch, that was handled with. Originally we tried to order Mcdonalds through GrabFood, but that ended horribly wrong after our food did not come for 2 HOURS. Speaking of nighttime, the showers were fairly clean so that worked in our favour too!

Oh, and our tent also started to leak due to the rain turning on and off during our trip.

So, how was Glamping?

Surprisingly decent. Yes, there were problems, but sometimes sitting down and just chatting and laughing and listening to 80s music is so much fun! Most of the time when we go out for holidays we sit on the most comfortable bed in the world with the air conditioning turned on, and tune in to our favourite YouTuber. But sometimes “roughing it out” is much more fun!

8.5/10. Would come again, maybe we’ll do camping with our own tents too… Anyways, next up. LEXIS HIBISCUS
