I’ve been meaning to visit these 2 domes in Gardens by the Bay for a long while, but I never got the chance. Fortunately, towards the end of the year, the CCA ( Co-curricular activities) I am in brought us to these 2 domes to do some photography. So, without further ado, time to get into these beautiful places.
Flower Dome – Flowers. So many flowers
Their website says, “This cavernous cooled conservatory holds the Guinness World Record for the largest glass greenhouse!”. That is, without a doubt, not a small feat. It’s a huge garden in a large glass dome cooled by air conditioning. This air-conditioned environment recreates the atmosphere that the plants in there would naturally survive in; it also makes for a great feeling when walking around!
The dome has an extensive array of plants and flowers, ranging from cacti to full-grown trees, which surprisingly fit in the dome.
Entering the dome, you are met with primarily cacti and many trees and flowers to the left. As you can see, the dome is made out of small panels of sorts. This creates a fascinating effect when looking around. Quite trippy
This bicycle is decorative; someone did not misplace it.
When you enter, you are elevated relatively high up. You then slowly make your way down as you gawk at the large amounts of people here on a Friday. I guess that’s why trees of this size can fit inside the dome in the first place.
Making your way down, there is an exhibition center that seems to be used to host events. I am not sure what event they hosted when I was there, but they were doing something.
It makes for a pretty lovely view, nonetheless.
On our way back up, you’d see an array of flora and fauna in a desert? Then again, maybe I’m an idiot, and cacti can flourish elsewhere too…
This is what I mean by the trippy effect.
That makes up most of what you would see at the Flower Dome; it would probably take 30-45 minutes for an average person to walk around. Still a vast place with plenty of things to look at
Cloud Forest – Mountain of Life
Home to one of the tallest indoor waterfalls, the tallest being the Jewel Rain Vortex which also belongs to our country (we’re good at this waterfall thing.) The cloud forest is highly regarded as one of Singapore’s most impressive attractions, and deservingly so.
Walking into the Cloud Forest, you are greeted with an impressive sight.
A large mountain covered in plants with boardwalks wrapping around it. The feeling of astonishment is something you can’t experience until you are actually in the dome. With the droplets of the waterfall splashing on your hair while you take everything in, it’s a sight to behold. The waterfall was so tall I was having trouble capturing the entire thing, with the photo I took being the best I could get.
In case you’re wondering about the lights and weird choice of head decoration, they were having a promotion for the Avatar movie, the sequel. The lights and the eerie sound effects were a pretty nice touch.
Taking an elevator up to the tippity top of the “mountain.” You are then made to walk down to the bottom on some cool bridges. Not before you are greeted with some lovely flowers.
Nice view from up here, big fan of the reflection you get in the water too

And that is scary. I’m not scared of heights, not by a long shot, but it’s not the most comforting thing when you’re standing up here. Still, it makes for a cool feeling to see everything from a bird’s eye view.
After some walking, you are led to a sort of ledge right next to the waterfall! It also just shows how far up you are when you look down.
While walking on the bridge, I saw this fabulous flower.
I’m 70% sure that’s not a prop for the movie’s promotion, though I may be wrong. After this, it was mostly the same, making our way down and gawking at the view. At the bottom of the mountain, instead of going back where we came from, we were led into this cool tunnel with more flowers.

This tunnel was under the waterfall I kept talking about, and after this, we were done. The end of the tunnel leads to a cozy gift shop where they sell gems and souvenirs.
Conclusion
So, that’s about it. Two of the most popular tourist attractions in Singapore are checked off the list. It was great to finally visit these 2 domes cause I haven’t been there in a while. For now, that’s 2 writing projects checked off the list. When I’m writing this (14 November), we’re going to Phuket this Saturday, and I want to finish up everything I need to write first. With that said, see you in the next one.
